Ufa railway workers and 1905–1907 Revolution

Abstract
Introduction. The subject of the research is participation of Ufa railway workers in the revolutionary events in Russia in the period of 1905 – 1907. The relevance of the considered problem is explained by the fact that social conflicts accompany the entire history of mankind; the obtained results can be used to resolve more effectively such conflicts at the present time. The main objectives of the research are to identify the main discontent causes among Ufa railway workers, which prompted the ones to participate in the revolutionary events, to analyze the most radical methods of revolutionary struggle, as well as the actions of the railway administration aimed at combating the revolutionary underground.
Materials and methods. The methodological basis of the research is based on general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, systematization and generalization.
The results of the research. In accordance with the historicism and objectivity principles, the author introduced a wide range of archival documents into scientific circulation for the first time, as well as used a significant list of scientific literature.
Discussion and conclusion. Such an approach has allowed us to achieve the following scientific results. 1. The anti-government protests of Ufa railway workers in 1905 have been studied, as well as their participation in strikes and an attempt of armed uprising in Ufa in December 1905. 2. Based on archival materials, the moral and political situation in Ufa railway workshops and depots in Ufa in 1906-1907 has been reconstructed, and a comparative analysis of sources carried out. 3. The article describes facts of terrorist attacks on representatives of the railway administration, as well as those who held pro-government views. The actions of the railway administration aimed at combating revolutionary manifestations has been assessed.
